History with a future 1986 Foundation of "Gesellschaft für Bau- und Industriebedarf Steinmann & Co. GmbH" (Ltd.); focus on wood imports.
1998 Investment in Ekoplyta S.A. in Czarnków, Poland, with a 33% share. Expansion of the plant to the largest European industrial site for the production of wood fibre insulation boards. At present, STEICO AG holds 100% of the shares.
October 2001 Steinmann & Co. GmbH is fully converted to STEICO AG (PLC), an unlisted stock company.
2002 Production of the flexible wood fibre insulation boards starts , produced in an innovative, dry process.
2002 STEICO AG is awarded the internationally recognized and prestigious FSC quality mark (Forest Stewardship Council) for its entire wood fibre insulation boards product range. With the certification number SGS-COC-0547, STEICO AG is now certificated to distribute wood fibre insulation boards.
June 2002 Most of STEICO’s full product range is certified with the new European quality mark natureplus®.
February 2004 The third production plant for wood fibre insulation boards produced in wet process is publicly inaugurated at the Ekoplyta factory in Czarnków, Poland.
January 2005 Acquisition of Ekoplyta S.A and change of its name to STEICO S.A.
January 2005 Certification by natureplus® completed. STEICO’s full range of insulation boards now carries this internationally acclaimed quality mark for future-oriented building.
February 2005 Inauguration of an additional, modern production line to manufacture insulation boards in wet process.
October 2005 STEICO takes over a second production site at Czarna Woda, Poland, which has a production area of 840,000 m2 and a future expansion potential as the total available area covers 5 million square meters. Today, STEICO is Europe’s largest manufacturer of wood fibre insulation boards.
April 2006 STEICO opens two new production lines at the Czarnków location: one for I-Joist products and one for hemp fibre insulation materials. While the hemp insulation materials are an addition to the existing insulation materials range, with its I-Joist products STEICO opens the market for constructive building materials. The production line for I-Joist products offers a manufacturing capacity with which STEICO will easily cover increasing future demand.
